That is some nice effects animation for ASCII. Is it true ascii art, or did you take some shortcuts that would not be possible in regular terminal screen?

Nope, it's proper ASCII art composed with glyphs. It theoretically -could- be drawn up in a terminal screen, but it's more effort than it's worth for the novelty, and we'd lose a lot of other effects and features that Unity offers.
